VSC Wins ‘Excellence in Wellbeing’ at HR in Hospitality Awards
We are delighted to share that the VSC has won the ‘Excellence in Wellbeing’ award at the HR in Hospitality Awards 2025.
This prestigious national award recognises organisations across the hospitality sector that are leading the way in supporting staff wellbeing. For the VSC, it’s a proud moment—and one that celebrates the commitment we’ve made to building a culture of care, inclusivity, and support for our team.
Our holistic, needs-led wellbeing strategy is grounded in the four pillars of mental, physical, emotional, and financial wellbeing. From Mental Health First Aiders and structured counselling to menopause champions, monthly fitness sessions, flexible working, and financial coaching—wellbeing is embedded in everything we do.
Crucially, our approach is shaped by staff, for staff. Our Wellbeing and Inclusion Champions work across departments to ensure the programme reflects the real needs and lived experiences of our people.
The HR in Hospitality Awards judges praised our honesty and ambition, saying: “This entry admits they started from a low base with zero budget and disengaged teams. From there, they developed a very well thought through and joined-up strategy that engaged all stakeholders. The HR team became visible and supportive, helping to change the culture to one that is more transparent and open. Their staff don’t just benefit from the programme—they shape it. The results speak for themselves: staff turnover dropped from 50% in July 2023 to 16% in May 2025, with zero turnover at Head of Department level. The vision was clear—if we care for our staff, they will take care of our 63,500+ members.”
Mark Field, General Manager of the VSC, said: “Winning this award is a fantastic recognition of the journey we’ve been on. It’s a real testament to the hard work of Jasmine and the HR team, who have transformed our approach to wellbeing from the ground up. They’ve helped us build a culture where people feel heard, supported, and valued—and that’s had a direct impact on our service to members. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together.”
Thank you to everyone who has helped make this possible—especially our Champions and team members who continue to shape the future of wellbeing at the VSC.
